What is Imbolc?

By February, most of us are tired of the cold, snowy season. Imbolc is a celebration Feb 1-2nd that reminds us that Spring is coming soon, reassuring us that we have already reached the midway point of Winter. The sun gets a little brighter, the earth gets a little warmer, and we know that life is quickening within the soil.

Depending on your particular tradition, there are many different ways you can celebrate Imbolc. We can look towards the growing cycles of this season as symbols of our potential. Traditionally, this is an excellent time to cleanse your space physically and energetically. Some traditions focus this time on the Celtic goddess Brighid, in her many aspects as a deity of fire and fertility, as well as her representation of the Maiden phase of the year (which begins with Spring).

We can use our self-care ritual this month to indulge in this firey celebration of the potential for the year. We are proclaiming our gratitude and self-love by nurturing both ourselves and the spaces we hold dear. This month's kit will introduce a few tools to help support you on this journey.

↬Brighid's Cross

A Brighid's Cross is traditionally hung over the hearth as a way of honoring the Celtic goddess Brighid at Imbolc. It is intended to protect a home, as well as keep family members safe from illness. These forest green and natural broom corn crosses were handcrafted by Hearth Craft Brooms.

↬Self Love Burn Blend

This loose herbal blend of red clover blossoms, lavender, hibiscus, yarrow, and rose petals can be burned on a charcoal disc for smoke cleansing or warmed in a simmer pot of water as an aromatic energy cleanser.
